Survey Route: Newhaven – Dieppe

A little further on four Common Dolphin passed close by and six Bottlenose Dolphin swam across the bow, increasing the excitement on the bridge

We had barely got set up before we heard the crew shout “dolphin” and over the next hour we had sight of over sixty Common Dolphin and three Harbour Porpoise and two more bottling Grey Seal.

We saw a distant group of feeding Gannet and as we approached Common Dolphin could be seen feeding below them. A lovely sight in the sparkling sea!

The most memorable sighting was almost last, a winter plumage Sabine’s Gull

I saw a single dorsal fin very close to the ship as a Harbour porpoise surfaced and then disappeared.
